NZ Primary Healthcare Awards 2021

Ellerslie Medical Centre was involved in a medicines safety project with Health Navigator. Health Navigator won the ACC Patient Safety award at the NZ Primary Healthcare Awards event. The entry focused on improving medicine safety through a range of resources. Jeremy Steinberg was part of the team, and he developed paediatric medication dosing calculators for the website. The website traffic for the calculators are routed through server space donated by Ellerslie Medical Centre.

The ACC Patient Safety Award category is to encourage organisations to improve safety for patients across the sector, with medicine safety being one aspect of this. If not used correctly, medicines can cause serious harm and even death. These effects are also a source of significant costs for organisations and whānau.
